Hyderabad: Debt-ridden man attempts suicide in front of Pragati Bhavan
Tension prevailed at Pragati Bhavan in Hyderabad when a debt-ridden man tried to commit suicide
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Pragati Bhavan in Hyderabad when a debt-ridden man tried to commit suicide. The man, identified as Naziruddin Shah is running a footwear shop in Malakpet to earn his living. However, for the past two years, the shop has been running on losses.
He said that he was not able to earn his livelihood and nor repay the debts. Depressed over growing piles of debt, Shah decided to end his life. He reached Pragati Bhavan and requested the Chief Minister to provide financial assistance to his family.
Shah then poured petrol on him and tried to set himself ablaze. However, the police at the spot foiled his attempt and shifted him to the nearby police station. An investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister is holding a review meeting with the ministers and irrigation officials on the usage of Godavari water during monsoon.
