Hyderabad: TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday said that June 2 was a historical day for Telangana as the State had been formed six years ago on the same day to realize the dreams of people of the State.

He addressed the party leaders at Gandhi Bhavan after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. He said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has made the 60 years dream of Telangana people come true.

However, he said, dictatorial regime is continuing in the State. People of all sections of the society have been facing hardships. The youth did not get any jobs and the number of unemployed has grown to 24 lakh from 12 lakh in 2014.

He said that most of the irrigation projects being taken up by the Congress have not been completed. The Kaleshwaram project is being constructed to get commissions. The State government remained a mute spectator while the neighboring state has been taking away the water through the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator.

He said that now Telangana has a debt burden of Rs 3 lakh crores whereas it was surplus revenue state in 2014. He said that the government has been paying about Rs 36,000 crores as interest and principal.
