Hyderabad: Libraries to be turned into knowledge centres at Chikkadpally
Minister Talasani says that government would seek a report on all the 83 libraries in the city and take necessary measures to develop them. He said that efforts would be made to improve facilities at libraries before Ugadi festival
Chikkadpally: The Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav, said that efforts were being made to transform libraries in the state as knowledge centres. He was speaking at a review meeting held with library higher officials at City Central Library on Monday. Musheerabad MLA Muta Gopal, Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, Library Association chairman Ayachitam Sridhar and Central Library chairman Prasanna Rammurthy and others attended the meeting. The minister said that government would seek a report on all the 83 libraries in the city and take necessary measures to develop them. He said that efforts would be made to improve facilities at libraries before Ugadi festival. He said that Rs 15 lakh were sanctioned every month for resolving issues at libraries and he promised to strive to double the amount. He said that libraries in the city had helped in making several IAS and IPS officers and would take all measures to develop them after the meeting with KT Rama Rao, The Municipal and IT Minister, after March 31.
Representatives of Telangana state district libraries association NGO's central forum met the minister on the occasion and submitted a memorandum urging him to resolve various library employee issues.
Secretary of City Library Association Padmaja, directors of library associations, corporators Padma, Mamatha Gupta, DRO Anil and others were present on the occasion.
