Gachibowli: The Maulana Azad National Urdu University Polytechnic team from Hyderabad has bagged the prestigious Chhatra Vishwakarma Award 2019. The team secured the first position in a national competition organized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Union Human Resources Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nisshant' presented the award to the winners in the presence of Professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE at a glittering ceremony held in New Delhi on Monday.

The award consists of Rs 51,000 and a citation. MANUU Polytechnic is the only team from Telangana & AP to secure the first position.

The team comprised final year diploma students: Sumaiya Qaisar (Computer Science & Engineering), Akif Jawaid (Information Technology) and Mohd Safeer Alam, (Electronics & Engineering). It won the award under sub-category Crop (Parali/Para) Waste Management for the project entitled "Smart grain management system using IoT". The AICTE theme was "how to increase the financial income of a village/farmer using innovative technology".

117 teams were shortlisted among 6676 and only 23 teams got the awards under 8 categories. Mr. Mohammed Yousuf, Assistant professor, Department of Information and Technology was the mentor of the project.
