Hyderabad: As the coronavirus pandemic and countrywide lockdown has brought the livelihoods of daily wagers, street vendors and migrant workers to a halt, Eye Foundation, a voluntary organisation based in Hyderabad, has stepped in to help the vulnerable group by providing food packets, grocery, masks and soaps.

Speaking to The Hans India, Rajkumar Medi, founder and president of Eye Foundation, said, "With the help of around 20 volunteers we distributed about 5,000 food packets, 1,000 ration kits, 2,000 masks and 1,000 soaps to the needy residing at various slums in the city.

The food packets consisted of rice, dal, curry, chutney, sambar, and curd. From beginning of lockdown till May 31 we have help around 9,000 people in the city."
