Hyderabad: A special sanitation drive would be conducted in all the 150 divisions of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), covering all areas from June 1 to June 8.
According to GHMC Commissioner D S Lokesh Kumar, these precautionary measures are being taken up to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases ahead of Monsoon. As part of this, garbage will be cleared along roadside and open plots, besides taking up desilting of and deweeding in all nalas and water-stagnation spots. Clearing all construction and demolition waste (CWD) along roadside and open plots and clearing of roadside bushes, waste plants and shrubs would be taken up.
As a part of ward-wise action plan, each ward is divided into feasible number of areas and every area is surveyed to identify number of open plots, open plots with garbage, C&D waste along roadside, water stagnant areas, total length of nalas, nalas with silt and weeds, garbage vulnerable points, roadside bushes etc.
"Accordingly, based on the assessment done so far, every area is mapped with sufficient sanitation workers and Sanitation Field Assistants and also the number of vehicles required to lift the cleared waste materials. In places where the quantity of waste is more and requires more vehicles and manpower, additional vehicles have been hired and more men have been deployed to clear all such places. All activities would be started early in the morning every day and would continue as per the action plan," he added.
