Hyderabad: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) on Sunday suspended D Uma Devi, working as a Telugu lecturer in Sri Narayana Junior College, Shamshabad and S Vijaya Kumar, working as a lecturer in Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Boys Junior College, Kotturu, for mistakes committed during valuation.

TSBIE secretary Dr A Ashok said it was found that Uma Devi, who worked as an examiner had failed in bubbling the figures on the OMR sheet properly resulting in a student Navya of Karimala Junior College, Mancherial district securing 'zero' marks instead of 99 marks scored in Telugu. Similarly, Vijay Kumar, who worked as a scrutinizer, had failed to identify the mistake.

Considering the seriousness of the error, the Board has slapped a penalty of Rs 5,000 against the Telugu lecturer.

The penalty has been paid and the college informed that her services are terminated. Similarly, Vijaya Kumar has been suspended from the services, pending an inquiry, he added.
