Kakinada: With one day for the high decibel campaign to end, YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday reiterated that his party would work with TRS to achieve Special Category status.

Criticising the government for its failure to work for the benefit of the people, Jagan said TDP was neck deep in corruption, nepotism, casteism coupled with rowdy and murder politics.

He said a vote for YSRCP would be a vote for change. He said if voted to power YSRCP will develop Machilipatnam port in 4,800 acres and people who would be displaced due to land acquisition would be adequately compensated.

The TDP government had notified over 33,000 acres for the port but the project never took off. The situation is that people who own the land cannot even take bank loans. Referring to Pasupu Kumkuma scheme, Jagan said the chief minister was cheating women.

He had scrapped the zero-interest loan facility for self-help groups in 2016 and the amount being paid in the form of interest was many times more than what they were earning.

Naidu had promised to waive the loans of women groups but did not keep his word. Jagan said if Special Category Status (SCS) was achieved it will improve the quality of living in the state as more industries would come and employment opportunities would improve.

With 25 MPs from AP and 17 from Telangana, it would be possible to raise the demand loudly in Parliament and the Centre will have no option but to give SCS, he added.

YSRCP, he said, would give Rs 75,000 to women groups towards waiver of loans in four instalments and an amount would be given to women in weaker sections who are above 45 years of age.

We will deposit Rs 15,000 into bank accounts of women for sending their two children to school. All students will also be given fee reimbursement, he said. Similarly, he said YSRCP will ensure quality medicare for the poor.

Farmers will be given seed capital and MSP to all agriculture produce besides setting up of Marketing Stabilisation and Natural Calamities Funds.
