Karimnagar: Agriculture to take new shape in future
The State government, which already introduced several welfare schemes for the welfare of the farmers across the State, is going to bring a new policy in agricultural sector from this Kharif season.
Karimnagar: The State government, which already introduced several welfare schemes for the welfare of the farmers across the State, is going to bring a new policy in agricultural sector from this Kharif season. As part of this plan, the government will direct the farmers which crops they should cultivate to get maximum benefits in the respective regions across the State along with imposing certain restrictions. The government also will suggest the farmers not to grow such crops that are not in demand in the market, which may incur loss in future.
The government also cautioned that it would not implement Rythu Bandhu to such farmers, who do not follow its suggestions of growing of crops. Mixed reaction came from the farming sector over the government statement and some were worried as they had already prepared ground to cultivate crops which they already decided.
Many farmers of the united Karimnagar district had cultivated various crops of their choice during Rabi season with the availability of Kaleshwaram water. After getting maximum benefits with a good yield, they decided to continue the same this Kharif. But the announcement of new agricultural policy came as blow to the farmers of the united district.
Koppula Sravanthi of Kishtampet village of Kalvasrirampur mandal of Peddapalli district, speaking to The Hans India, said the government told the farmers to cultivate fine rice but did not mentioned which quality and also the rate it will pay. She observed that the government might have informed the farmers well before so that the farmers can decide whether to opt it or not. Several farmers of this region are cultivating Sri Ram and Jay Sri Ram rice varieties, which are best suitable in this region and getting better yield, she added.
Another farmer Gudi Sammi Reddy said they are cultivating Telangana Sona and 11RR95
variety as they are short duration crops. Within 20 days, crops will come for harvesting stage and could be cultivated either with drum feeder or broad casting systems.
He observed the government should leave the choice of crop selection to the farmers and should not exert pressure on farmers by linking it with Rythu Bandhu.
This will become a controlled agriculture and farmers do not have any authority on their fields in the days to come with such restrictions, he stated.
Farmers of Jagtial district are worried over decreasing the area of corn cultivation, as corn and maize are the crops that grow better in dry lands. If the government restricts farmers not to cultivate crops that solely cultivated in these areas, then it will badly affect the farmers, they stated.
