Khammam: Police have nabbed a person on charge of stealing bikes during vehicle checking in the city on Saturday.

Police recovered 11 bikes from the accused identified as Kilari Vinod from Vengannapalem village of Julurpad mandal in Kothagudem district.

According to Khammam town ACP PV Ganesh, the accused was taken into custody during the vehicle checking at NTR Circle by Two Town police and crime party personnel. During questioning he revealed his identity and confessed to his crimes and told the police that he had stolen 17 motorbikes in 2016 under Two-Town police station limits and was jailed. He was accused of a bike theft in the Bhavani Hospital area in Khammam.

The police recovered 11 motorbikes worth Rs 2.85 lakh from his possession. The Additional DCP D Muralidhar and the ACP Ganesh appreciated police staff Ameer, Damodar and Srikanth in tracing out the accused. CI T Gopi and SI M Ramesh were present.
