Nalgonda: All set for polling of local authority MLC election in erstwhile Nalgonda district to be held on Friday. In this connection, all arrangements have been made by the officials at all revenue division centres. As many as 1,084 voters are going to exercise their votes in this election. 811 MPTCs, 57 ZPTCs, 208 Municipal Councilors, 10 Ex-officio members are going to decide the fate of candidates contesting for the MLC seat under local body category .
Officials arranged polling centres at Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Devarakonda, Chotuppal, Bhongir, Suryapet and Kodad divisions. Voters under the respective divisions have to cast their votes at division point polling centres.
Returning officer for MLC election and Nalgonda Collector Gaurav Uppal took all necessary measures for smooth conduct of election. Similarly, the police department made all security arrangements at all polling centres to avoid untoward incidents during the polling.
Officials issued special cards to voters and advised them to produce one of the identity cards identified by Election Commission while casting their votes at the respective polling centres. Polling starts at 8 am and concludes at 5 pm, officials informed.
Officials also arranged web casting at all poling centres to observe poll trends live. Ballot boxes would be shifted from all revenue divisions to strongrooms located at FCI godowns in Nalgonda after completion of polling.
Officials also made arrangements for counting on June 3.
The seat became vacant due to resignation of MLC Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy who has been elected as MLA from Munugodu constituency in the recent Assembly elections. Rajgopal Reddy defeated TRS candidate Tera Chinapa Reddy in the last MLC election.
Meanwhile, this time TRS fielded Tera Chinapa Reddy once again against Congress candidate and Rajgopal Reddy's wife Komatireddy Laxmi.
After recent MP elections results, the MLC elections have become a challenge to both TRS and the Congress. The TRS leaders are in fear that cross voting might hamper their victory as it allegedly happened in previous MLC election. Meanwhile, the Komatireddy brothers are confident that people are vexed with TRS and vote in favour of them.
