Mahbubnagar: Police Martyrs Day celebrated on a grand note

Mahbubnagar: Commemorating the 61st Police Martyrs' Day celebrations on Monday, police personnel from across all the five districts of erstwhile Mahbubnagar enthusiastically participated in various programmes and concluded the week-long celebrations on Monday.

The police personnel in Narayanpet district conducted a parade in the Parade Grounds, where Narayanpet Superintendent of Police Dr Chetana received guard of the honour from the police personnel.

Later, the SP paid floral tributes to the martyrs and offered prayers. Addressing the police personnel, she said, "Every police official is duty bound to not only protect the law and order situation, but also to keep peace in the society. There have been thousands of police persons who have laid their lives while delivering their duties. Today is the day to remember all those brave police persons who had exhibited extraordinary calibre towards their duties. We need to take inspiration from those brave heroes who cared least for their lives and gave priority to their duties first."

The SP informed that across the country there have been 292 brave police persons who had laid their lives while performing their duties.

Of them, from erstwhile Mahbubnagar alone there were 39 police persons who had scarified their lives for the sake of their duties and to protect the law and order.

Among the 39 police from erstwhile Mahbubnagar, the lone police who exhibited brave calibre during his duties was Raja Reddy, a native of Narayanpet district.

The SP paid special tribute to Raja Reddy and later honoured and felicitated Raja Reddy's widow Bhagyamma with a special memento and said that the police department would always be with her.

The SP also distrusted prizes to the students and police personnel who had won the essay writing competition.

After the programme, the police personnel along with NCC cadets and schoolchildren took out a rally from police headquarters through civil lines, via old bus stand and Narsareddy Chowk, Ambedkar Chowk, and Municipal park.

Additional SP Kumaraswamy, DSP Sridhar, Circle inspectors Shiva Kumar, Sampath Kumar, Shankar, Iftikar Amhed, Parmesh Kumar and others participated in the programme.

The Police Martyr Day celebrations were also celebrated with grand fervour in Mahbubnagar, Gadwal, Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts.
