Mahbubnagar: The revenue staff across erstwhile Mahbubnagar district went off-work for the second day as a mark of protest and mourning against the heinous murder of Abdullapurmet tahasildar Vijaya Reddy.

Almost all the mandal revenue and tahsildar offices across Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Gadwal districts were closed for the second day on Wednesday.

In Jadcherla mandal, the revenue office staff members voluntarily closed down the doors of the tahsildar office and took up mourning and staged a sit-in as a mark of protest against the murder of Vijaya Reddy.

In Narayanpet district, the revenue staff of various mandals gathered at the district headquarters and struck work as a mark of protest. They expressed their dissent by staging a sit-in in front of district Collectorate. Later they gave a representation to District Collector S Venkat Rao and urged the government to provide adequate security for the revenue officials.

In Gadwal district, the Congress party representative Sampath Kumar and former congress MLA from Alampur and district Congress president Patel Prabhakar Reddy took a dig at the State government's attitude against the RTC and revenue employees.

Sampath Kumar said, "The derogatory remarks of KCR in the Assembly against the revenue officials instigated the people to take extreme step and lead to incident of killing of a tahsildar." "The TRS government must take the responsibility for this incident. We are demanding the government to provide security to the revenue staff at the same time provide justice to the poor farmers who are roaming pillar to post across revenue offices for land pass books. The State government has completely failed to address the employees as well as the people's problems," lamented Sampath Kumar.

He said to expose the failures of the State government and central governments the Congress party is taking out a huge rally with 3000 people and lay siege to district Collectorate on Friday.

In Kodangal mandal also the revenue staff closed down the gates of MRO office and staged a protest and raised slogans against the State government demanding safety and security to the tahsildar office staff.
