Karimnagar: Marriage registration is compulsory to avoid child marriages and to get legality to the marriage to safeguard the rights of the women, stated Manakondur MLA Rasamayi Balakishan. He said that women should be more vigilent.

He participated at an orientation training to Panchayat secretaries on Compulsory Marriage Registration Act 2002 organised by Karimnagar rural ICDS project, at Durgabai Deshmukh Mahila Pranganam here on Thursday.

Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal instructed the secretaries to work with dedication and follow the guidelines of marriage registration, which will be helpful in issuing Kalyana Lakshmi cheques also.

CDPO Sabita Bhaskar, ACDPO Saraswati, MPPs and ZPTCs of Timmapur and Chigurumamidi, vice-MPP, MSK coordinator Padmavati, marriage registrar Mysayya, Sakhi administrator Lakshmi, Child Helpline coordinator Sampath, supervisors, AWTC principal Sudha, Panchayat secretaries of Manakondur, Timmapur, Keshavapatnam, Ganneruvaram and Chigurumamidi attended the orientation training programme.
