Wanaparthy: The Mission Bhagiratha workers working at Gumpugattu pumphouse in Kottakota mandal of Wanaparthy district staged a protest on Wednesday demanding immediate payment of salaries that have been pending for the last 10 months.

Over 50 workers staged a protest on Wanaparthy-Kothakota highway stating that they would not attend to any work until the authorities pay them the pending salaries. "We have been working with the contract company at the Gumpugattu pumphouse for more than two years now. However, the project contractor has stopped paying our salaries for the last 10 months and citing excuses whenever we seek the salaries. Now, it has become tough for us to carry on with the work without payment. We are demanding the authorities to immediately pay our pending salaries lest we intensify our protest," said the agitating workers.

However, the contract company authorities said that they were awaiting the bills from the government to be cleared and as soon as they get the money from the government, they would pay the salaries.
