Doctors on Thursday amputated MMTS loco-pilot L Chandrashekar’s right leg above-knee and his health condition continues to be critical.
Hyderabad: Doctors on Thursday amputated MMTS loco-pilot L Chandrashekar's right leg above-knee and his health condition continues to be critical.
He was put on mechanical ventilator support and CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) with Inotropic support and medications to maintain haemodynamic, according to doctors.
He has also developed DIC (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation) and received multiple blood transfusions in the last 24 hours, they said.
Doctors stated that crush inquiries to the lower limbs have caused severe compression of arteries of limbs (right more than left leg).
In view of this, CT Lower Limb Angiogram was done which confirmed the gross reduction in blood supply to Lower Limb (right more than the left).
Vascular Surgeon Team consultations recommended right above knee amputation in view of vascular damage to the right lower limb as life-saving measure.
Counselling was done regarding the high risk associated with the amputation surgery and the current medical prognosis in detail with Chandrashekar's family-his father and wife, doctors stated.
