‘Vayu’ cyclone delays rains beyond June 22

Hyderabad: Though there were a few spells of rain in the two Telugu states for the past few days, people have to wait four more days for the monsoon. Due to 'Vvayu' cyclone in the Arabian sea, the monsoon has been delayed further.

According to the India Meteorological Department, people have to wait until June 22 for monsoon rains. The last such occurrence when the monsoon hit the region after June 27 was in the year 1972.

Usually the monsoon hits Kerala in the first week of June and reaches southern Telangana on June 13.

Against this, the IMD has predicted that the monsoon may enter the state after June 22 only. The IMD has also predicted that there would be a normal rainfall of 96 per cent this year.
