Mulugu: With more than one crore devotees to descend on Medaram, the abode of Goddesses Sammakka Saralamma, during the four-day jatara - from February 5 to 8 – it was going to be a hectic task for the district administration especially the police who have to deal with the traffic.

The administration is already witnessing pre-jatara rush ahead of the biennial Adivasi congregation, said to be the Asia's largest tribal fair.

Against this backdrop, the police department has appointed 4,000 personnel to regulate the vehicular traffic. This apart, the Warangal Commissioner of Police V Ravinder, Mulugu Superintendent of Police Sangramsingh G. Patil and ASP P Sai Chaitanya at Mulugu on Friday had released a route map for vehicles going to and from Medaram.

The aim is to provide a hassle free passage to the devotees heading to Medaram. Besides ensuring free flow of traffic, the police is keen on avoiding road mishaps, Ravinder said, appealing to the devotees to follow the route map released by the administration.

Referring to the arrangements, Sangramsingh said that they have divided the route map into 20 sectors. Each sector will have one DSP or ASP as the in-charge to look after the flow of traffic. The administration has also deployed 30 two-wheeler teams to rush to the spots swiftly in case of any exigency.

As many as 200 closed circuit cameras (CCTV) have been installed between Gattamma temple (near Mulugu) and Pasra, he said. Stating that they have earmarked 25 parking points on way to Medaram, he urged the devotees to park their vehicles only at these points.
