Hyderabad: TRS floor leader in Lok Sabha Nama Nageswara Rao on Thursday rued that even after six years of formation of Telangana, the promises regarding railway line expansion made in the AP Reorganisation Act were not fulfilled.

The TRS MP was speaking at the meeting of Railway officials at the SouthCentral Railways office here on Thursday. He alleged that the railway projects in Telangana were going on at a snail's pace. The TRS leader asked about the progress of Kazipet Coach Factory and sought details such as total cost of the project and the problems in taking up the project.

Nama suggested convening of another meeting with the officials for land acquisition and coordination between Railway and theState government officials. The MP expressed his displeasure over the poor rail connectivity in the State. He said that there was just 2.5 per cent rail line in Telangana. Develop the railway stations at district headquarters, he told the officials.

The MPs asked about Mustafa Nagar-Srinivas Nagar Railway under bridge (RUB), Bhadrachalam-Kovvuru railway line works, Dornakal-Karepally double track works, extension of Pandurangapuram- Sarapaka to Bhadrachalam town, street lighting in Dornakal-Bhadrachalam road line, additional coaches for Tirupati for the benefit of Bhadrachalam, Manuguru, Kothagudem, stopping of Navjeevan Superfast, East Coast Express train at Madhira station and others.
