Nizamabad: Group war for Indur BJP chief post

Nizamabad: Various demands about BJP president post like it should be given to their followers or to SC candidates or to a woman and constituency in-charge's demand to give him a chance, has raised curiosity as to who will become Nizamabad district party president. Even the party high command itself is mulling over the issue.

As the tenure of the district president Palle Gangareddy was concluded, leaders started to compete for the post. According to sources, MP D Arvind and former MLA Yendala Lakshminarayana are making strong efforts to get the post to their followers when the party is searching for a strong and able leader, who has a good awareness on party policies and who can strengthen the party at grassroot level.

Though the BJP tasted failure in Assembly elections, it proved its mettle in Parliament elections and focussed on party organisational development.

As part of its effort, BJP high command is going to conduct district committee election and Nizamabad district president has to be elected by November month end. This led to several discussions among the party cadre as to who will take the reign of the district party.

Already party State executive members Baswa Laxminarsaiah is ahead in the race, while party cadre is reportedly forcing urban in-charge Dhanpal Suryanarayana to contest for the post. But there are rumours that his followers attacking party office when Dhanpal Suryanarayana didn't get Urban MLA ticket in the past has become a negative point to him.

Meanwhile, woman leader Geetha Reddy and Balkonda constituency in-charge Ruyyadi Rajeshwar also making efforts to get the post. Rumours are that Nizamabad MP D Arvind is putting all his efforts to get the coveted post to Baswa Lakshminarsaiah.

On the other hand, former MLA Y Lakshminarayana is insisting to give the district president post to a SC candidate. Nayudu Prakash, who contested from Banswada in last Assembly elections, is also ready to sit on the president chair, if he gets the chance.

Against this background, the party cadre is buzzing that unanimity in the election of party district president is not that easy due to group politics here. The suspense over who will take lead the party in the district will be cleared after a few days.
