Hyderabad: Additional Commissioner of Police for Traffic Anil Kumar interacted with owners and makers of registration number plates on Wednesday. He explained to them about the Motor Vehicle Act rule position and proper registration number plate to be fixed on motor vehicles. He advised them to prepare registration number plate according to the measurements as per rule 50 and 51 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules-1989.

Anil Kumar requested the makers of registration number plates that they should not prepare number plates with fancy letters and should not put any other symbols or writings on the number plate. Makers of registration number plates are informed that they should verify the original Registration Certificate (RC) of the customer and note the ownership particulars and details of customer who come to them for preparation of number plates.

He also said if any number plate makers were found violating CMV Rules-1989, then a legal action will be initiated against them as per law. Citizens are also informed that they should fix proper number plates on their vehicles as per the guidelines under rule 50 and 51 of CMV Rule-1989 only.

Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 36,632 cases in the year 2017, 71,324 in 2018 and 17,486 cases in 2019 till March 31 against improper number plate violators.
