Hyderabad: The Marketing Intelligence Team of Cybercrime Police Station, DD, Hyderabad have arrested an accused by name Maddela Deepu Babu (28) on September 30 at Bengaluru, who cheated the complainant by impersonating as CEO of Airtel Company and looted money from him in guise of providing fancy and VIP Airtel mobile numbers.

The accused was involved in fraudulent transfer of Rs 45,800 from complainant by name Janaki Ram Mohan. According to Cybercrime sleuths, the complainant stated that on September 19 their company CEO received a message from unknown number wherein the sender offered several fancy mobile numbers at lesser prices.

Upon which the complainant contacted unknown person, who introduced himself as Gopal working as Airtel CEO. On the promises made by Gopal, the complainant deposited an amount of Rs 45,800 to the accused bank account. Later, he avoided the complainant's phone call and cheated him.

The accused obtained several SIM cards and bank accounts to cheat the victims. Whenever any person shows interest to buy those and contacts him, he introduces himself as Airtel CEO with fake identity cards and photos to gain the confidence of the victim.

Afterwards he will induce the victim that the fancy mobile number which was sent is for urgent sale and several persons showing interest to buy that.

He will insist victim to transfer some money as an advance. When the victim transfers the advance amount, the fraudster will then send a fake porting code and asks to deposit more money by citing different reasons like GST and other taxes saying that all these are refundable.
