Only one big idol for entire village

When Vinayaka Chaturthi festival comes, idols of Ganesh come up at various pandals. Even in villages also, it has become practice that each street has a separate pandal. Every year, the number of big idols for immersion keeps on increasing.
Parigi: When Vinayaka Chaturthi festival comes, idols of Ganesh come up at various pandals. Even in villages also, it has become practice that each street has a separate pandal. Every year, the number of big idols for immersion keeps on increasing. However, villagers of Polkampalli struck a different note in the mandal, by opting for only one idol for the entire village.
Speaking to The Hans India, the youth said the nine-day festivities would be celebrated together by all the villagers. Youth leaders Praveen, Mallesh, Janardhan, Shankar, Veeresham, Vinay, Bhimaiah said that 'one village - one god' was their slogan, and they were following it religiously.
