Mahabubabad: Three students escaped with minor injuries after they came in contact with a live electric wire. The incident occurred in a private residential school in Mahabubabad on Saturday when the students shifting an iron pole from the school ground to the store room.

The police said that three students H Tarun (Class VII), B Rohith (Class VI) and A Vinod (Class IV) studying in Fathima High School were asked to help the school attendant B Ravi in shifting the pole. The pole came in contact with overhead live wires.

As a result, the students suffered electric shock and fell on the ground. The school management immediately shifted them to a private hospital. The condition of the students is said to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, several student unions and parents staged a protest outside the hospital demanding stringent action against the school management for making students work in the school. The parents filed a complaint with the police seeking action against school management.

District Joint Collector David visited the hospital and assured parents of action against the school management after an inquiry. Balala Hakkula Sangham honorary president Achyutha Rao came down heavily on school management for using the students as child labour. He demanded that the school management should be booked under Juvenile Justice Act and Child Labour Prohibition Act and other relevant sections.
