Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy urges people to segregate waste into dry and wet and hand over it to garbage collectors who come to their houses, and not dump it in the open
Rangareddy: Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said that 'Pattana Pragathi' programme initiated by the state government to provide basic amenities and improve sanitation in urban areas, would usher in new glory to towns. She was speaking at a programme held at Jalpally municipal office where she distributed Kalyan Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak cheques to beneficiaries.
Speaking at a public meeting held on the occasion, the minister said 12 autos and 4 tractors were sanctioned for waste disposal in Jalpally municipality. She urged people to segregate waste into dry and wet and hand over it to garbage collectors who come to their houses, and not dump it in the open. She said that two to three additional sanitation workers would be appointed for each ward. She said that wedding cheques worth Rs 84.63 lakh were given to 87 beneficiaries on a single day in Jalpally municipally limits. Explaining various welfare schemes, she said that the state government was committed to minority welfare. Also, about Rs 75 crore would be released for developmental works in all municipalities and Jalpally alone would get Rs 48 lakh, she added. Talking about recently formulated Municipal Act, she hoped that the it would eliminate corruption and would benefit people. Permissions to houses constructed in area below 70 yards would be given without any fees, she said.
Among those who attended the meeting include Jalpally municipal chairman Abdulla Bin Ahmed, vice president Farzana Naaz, MRO Srinivas Reddy, municipal commissioner Ahmed Safiullah, councillors, beneficiaries and local leaders.
