Rape, murder accused must get stringent punishment: Bhatti
Stating that gang-rape and murder of veterinary doctor Priyanka Reddy was a blot on the entire society, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Saturday, demanding that the State government should ensure that the accused get severest punishment so that criminals should scare even look towards women and girls.

Speaking after consoling the victim's family members along with party MLA D Sridhar Babu, Bhatti urged the police to remain alert and register cases against criminals irrespective of their jurisdiction.
He demanded that the State government should enact stringent laws to prevent heinous crimes. Bhatti also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family members of the victim.
Sridhar Babu said it was very unfortunate that such a crime took place in the State despite strict laws like Nirbhaya Act in force in the country.
He requested the Police department to prove their friendly policing in action rather than making mere statements. He also stressed a need to overhaul the entire police system.
