Hyderabad: The striking RTC employees, who announced their readiness to join their duties, need to wait for some more time as Telangana State government has decided to address the RTC issue only after the disposal of the cases pending in the High Court and in the State Labour Court.

As the High Court already posted final hearing on RTC privatisation on Friday, the government is likely to take a few decisions on the particular issue depending on the outcome of the court judgement.

A day after the RTC JAC announced the striking RTC workers readiness to join their duties, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao held a day-long meeting with top officials of the State government and also legal experts and analysed the status of the court cases.

The officials concerned were instructed to study in detail all the issues pending in the courts and also the financial status of the corporation after 48,000 RTC workers have gone on strike from September 5.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that Rs 640 crore immediately required to run the crisis-hit RTC. In the wake of economic slowdown, the Chief Minister said that the government is not in a position to pump required money to run the corporation comfortably.

Considering the current situation, the officials also made it clear that it is not possible to bring the RTC on the right track.

The total debt burden on the RTC is Rs 5,000 crore and it required at least Rs 2,000 crore to clear Rs 2,000 crore debts urgently.
