Vikarabad: The officials of Endowment Department are now busy protecting the lands and assets belonging to respective temples in the district.

Several lands belonging to Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy are in the clutches of land sharks. The Endowment Department filed cases against encroachers and several cases are pending in courts.

The Hans India reported extensively about the encroachment of lands under Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple. Officials responded quickly and approached the court for eviction of encroachers.

The officials started surveying the lands belonging to the Lord as well as assets of other temples. They are erecting signboards displaying that the lands belong to certain temple.

Recently, the Endowment officials erected a sign board at a land in Tharur mandal, saying the land belongs to Sri Veerabhadreswara Swamy. Legal action will be initiated if any one trespasses, the board says.

Locals and devotees are appreciating the initiatives taken by the authorities. Had these steps taken a long before, hundreds of temple assets would have been protected, they said.
