SEC initiates steps for holding civic body polls
A day after the enactment of new municipal Act, the State Election Commission initiated the preparation for the municipal elections.
Hyderabad: A day after the enactment of new municipal Act, the State Election Commission initiated the preparation for the municipal elections.
The commission announced schedule for publication of electoral rolls and holding meetings with political parties.
According to the schedule released by SEC, the preparation of draft photo electoral rolls and its display for the benefit of people would be on September 27.
The Commission would accept objections on re-arrangement of Assembly voters into ward photo rolls between September 28 and October 2. The commission would call a meeting of political party representatives at district level on October 1.
The objections would be disposed by municipal commissioner on October 4 and final publication of photo electoral rolls would be on October 5.
The commission would also publish the electoral rolls of ward number 30 of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The GHMC deputy commissioner of circle VI has been authorised to prepare the electoral rolls of ward 30 (Dabeerpura) in the same format and language as the Assembly electoral rolls.
The commission would release the final rolls on October 5. The commission is holding byelection to Dabeerpura division as the Corporator Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan resigned after becoming a member of Legislative Council recently.
