The Southwest monsoon has advanced into Telangana and covered most parts of the State on Friday. Heavy rain occurred at isolated places in six districts, while heat-wave conditions prevailed at isolated pockets in two other districts.

According to the Met department bulletin, rain occurred at fairly widespread places across the State. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were: Bejjanki (Siddipet district) 5, Jogipet (Sangareddy) 4, Chegunta (Medak), Ibrahimpatnam (RR), Regode, Papannapet (bothl Medak) 3 each, Kowdipalle, Tupran (both Medak), Hathanoora (Sangareddy), Medak 2 each There was 1 cm rain each in Mirdoddi, Dubbak, Maheswaram, Ramayampet, Husnabad, Tekmal, Tandur, Nanganur and Narsapur. The highest maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius was recorded in Ramagundam.

There was an appreciable fall in day temperatures ranging from 2.1 to 4 deg C in some parts. The departures from normal in maximum temperatures was markedly above normal (5 deg C or more) in some parts.

The bulletin said conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of the monsoon into remaining parts of Telangana during next 72 hours, as yesterday's low pressure area over the north-east Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood now lies over north Bay.

The wet weather will continue with the bulletin warning of heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places across the State on June 22. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places of Telangana from June 22 to 25. No large change during the period June 26-28 is the weather outlook.
