State releases 918 lakh for road widening, beautification of junctions in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: The long pending dream of road widening and beautification of junctions and crossroads in Mahbubnagar district headquarters is soon going to be realized as the State government had released Rs 918 lakh through Telangana State Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSUFIDC).

As the district headquarters is bogged down with traffic congestions due to narrow roads and small crossroad junctions for many years, the district administration had long back sent proposals for widening of roads and junctions in the district. Though the State government agreed to provide funds for the same long ago, it took more than six years for the final project to be materialized. The credit goes to Excise and Prohibition

Minister Srinivas Goud, who convinced the government to release the required funds for the project.

Already road widening works of National Highway 167 passing through the district headquarters is going on a brisk pace, the Excise Minister wants the junction beautification works also to be completed as it would give the required momentum for the works to be carried out in a targeted manner along with the main project.

Excise Minister Srinivas Goud said with Rs 9.18 crore funds released by the government through TSUFIDC, all major junctions will be beautified with green garden, fountain, beautifully carved out pylons and will include artistically designed architectures.

At present the government had released Rs 148 lakh to Clock Tower junction, Rs 120 lakh to Telangana Chowk junction, Rs 150 lakh to Ambedkar junction, Rs 110 lakh to Ashok Theatre Junction and Rs 140 lakh each to New Town junction and Subhas Chandra Bose junction in the district. Of the 10 junctions selected, these junctions are being expanded from 1,500 to 2,500 square meters.

In addition to the above junctions, Rs 35 lakh is being allocated to Koilkonda X- roads junction, Rs 30 lakh each to Saddalagundu and Mettugadda junctions and Rs 15 lakh to DEO office junction in the district headquarters.
