Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said the State government is roping in advanced technology from China to give a fillip to mulberry cultivation in the State.

Responding during Question Hour in the State Legislative Council here on Saturday he said before the formation of Telangana, mulberry cultivation in the State was spread in 3,176 acres and after the formation of the State the same has been increased to 11,251 acres.

Further, the State government has also extended the subsidy. Though the cultivation was initially spread in the agency areas like Mancherial, Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts the same is spreading to other areas also, he added.

Under the crop diversification programme, the State government has decided to encourage the mulberry cultivation to other areas in a phased manner.
