Suryapet: TPCC secretary Patel Ramesh Reddy distributed rice and vegetables to the victim families in the city on Tuesday.

He criticised the State government for giving just 10 kg rice to victims. He demanded the district authorities to take permanent measures rather than temporary reliefs. He said encroachment of drainages is leading to inundation of the houses during the every heavy rain in Suryapet. He demanded to increase the height of the canal to address the issue permanently.

Stating that he was shocked with pitiable condition of citizens of submerged colonies due to recent heavy rains, he said that the Congress party decided to extend cooperation and distributed rice and other essential commodities to 45 victim families.

He demanded that the state government must provide a financial assistance of Rs one lakh and essential commodities sufficient for one month to all the families affected by rains in Suryapet.

He was accompanied by local congress councillors and leaders.
