Says TS unemployment rate lesser than national average

Hyderabad: Stating that the government would fill up 50,000 vacancies in the State, Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said that the unemployment rate in the State was less than the national average.

Harish Rao released the diary of Telangana Private Employees Association 2021 at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday. The finance minister recalled the moments during Telangana agitation where diary release programmes helped in getting momentum for the separate state struggle. He said that during the Telangana agitation, January had full of diary release functions and these used to be the centre for agitation. "It was in these functions words like bullets used to come from the Telangana protagonists and led to the spread of the movement. We will not forget your role during the Telangana agitation," said Harish Rao, recalling the support of the private employees, who did not care for firings and teargas shells during the Sagara Haram, Million March.

Harish Rao said that the investments were coming to Hyderabad because of the efforts of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who focused on administration, power, drinking water and secured atmosphere. "Many national and international companies are coming forward to invest in Telangana as it is one among the three states which has lesser unemployment rate. The CM has decided to provide opportunities to the unemployed by giving promotions and filling up vacancies," said Harish Rao.

Harish Rao said that efforts were made to provide employment in private companies. "I have worked along with you during 2008. I will not forget the love you have shown. You have also joined us in the agitation and had to go to jail. We fought for Telangana and are now striving for welfare of employees," said Harish Rao. He lauded the association's efforts to provide Job melas and skill development programs.

Later, in an informal interaction with the media, Harish Rao castigated the level of politics that has fallen these days. He recalled how they had maintained restraint in use of language during the Telangana agitation.
