Telangana: Gutka worth Rs 13 lakh seized in Nirmal
The Nirmal police have seized Rs 13.34 lakh worth gutka while they are being transported Sarangapur from Bidar.
The Nirmal police have seized Rs 13.34 lakh worth gutka while they are being transported Sarangapur from Bidar.
According to the district superintendent of police, a lorry bearing registration number TS12UC5913 is transporting the gutka packets in 160 bags to Sarangapur. Acting on a tip-off, the police carried out inspection and seized the gutka that is being transported illegally. The gutka worth is estimated to be of Rs 13.34 lakh.
The lorry driver and three others were taken into custody. The police registered a case and launched an investigation.
On May 5, the Hyderabad police seized Rs 30 lakh worth tobacco products. Gutka, foreign cigarettes, tobacco products and firecrackers were seized by the special operations team, Malkajgiri. The police said that the arrested procured the gutka and foreign cigarettes from Begum Bazar and Bidar and transporting them to Yapral, Neredmet and Kushaiguda in his car. The arrested was identified as Veerender.
