Zaheerabad: The Lok Sabha election here is gripping, as the TRS and Congress are fighting neck to neck to win the seat. Congress candidate Madan Mohan is giving a tough fight with the support from the senior leaders like Shabbir Ali, Geetha Reddy, Damodaram Rajanarsimha and Suresh Shetkar.
Madan is busy in coordinating the leaders, but the party has failed to launch an intensive campaign. On the other hand, BJP candidate Banala Laxma Reddy has pinned hopes on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charisma, as party has no base in the constituency, except for Kamareddy and Yellareddy.
TRS candidate BB Patil exuded confidence of winning the seat with three-lakh majority. He says that CM KCR's welfare schemes are models for the nation and would help him win the election. Patil assured the constituents to develop the constituency.
Madan Mohan Rao said that anti incumbency plays a major role and added that Rs 6,000 per month to poor and crop loan waiver of Rs two lakh announced by Congress president Rahul Gandhi would definitely helped him to get the seat.
BJP candidate B Laxma Reddy exuded the confidence of winning majority seats in the state as many welfare schemes implemented by PM Modi government.
Home Minister Mohammad Ali has recently participated in a campaign to garner support of minority community in favour of the TRS candidate. TRS is seen strong in all Assembly segments of the constituency. CM KCR's meeting has instilled confidence among the party workers.
Earlier, Zaheerabad Assembly segment is known as Congress fort, but the party seems to slowly losing its ground. TRS candidate Kranthi won from Andhol Assembly segment against Congress senior leader Damodara Rajanarasimha with 15,000 plus margin. Recently, Rajanarasimha's followers joined TRS. Congress got some relief, as Advocate P Shiva Shekar joined the Congress from TRS.
TRS has good internal party base in Narayankhed Assembly segment. Both the BJP and Congress lack cadre in the constituency.
Congress candidate Surender had won from Yellareddy Assembly segment before he switched his loyalties to TRS, but experts predicted that Congress activists are still with the party as Madan Mohan belongs to the same segment.
Jukkal is TRS stronghold as MLA Hanumanth Shinde is representing the segment and BB Patil belongs to the constituency. TRS has edge in Banswada Assembly segment as TRS MLA and Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy is representing the constituency, as he won the Assembly election with 17,000 plus majority. Even Congress Party had good fan base across the constituency. There will be a tough competition between TRS, BJP and Congress as these parties have good fan base across Kamareddy constituency.
