Three-month-old infant found dead in drain in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A body of a three-month-old baby girl was found floating in the drain at Gulshan Igbal Colony at Chandrayangutta on Sunday evening. The police said that the baby girl was thrown in the drain just an hour before the patrolling team found it around 6.30 pm.
The police also suspected that the infant might have died and later she was dumped in the drain. The body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem and no external injuries were reported. As there was no CCTV footage installed in the area, it turned out difficult to investigate the case.
The police registered a case under section 318 (Concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). An investigation is on.
