TRS leaders bat for spouses, kin
With the ruling TRS set to capture all 32 Zilla Parishads, its leaders are pushing their spouses and children for the posts of ZP chairperson posts.
Hyderabad: With the ruling TRS set to capture all 32 Zilla Parishads, its leaders are pushing their spouses and children for the posts of ZP chairperson posts. The main reason for this is that these posts are of Cabinet rank without having to face any election.
The TRS has got 82 per cent of the local body seats and with this the party is sure to get all 32 ZP chairperson posts without any election. The party leaders are now making necessary moves to see that their children or spouses become the chairpersons. According to sources, some of the leaders are said to have got assurance already from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Spouses and children of many TRS leaders have won in the recent MPTC and ZPTC elections. These leaders are lining up before TRS working president K T Rama Rao urging him to consider their proposals. The Chief Minister has so far announced the names of former MLAs Kova Lakshmi for Asifabad and P Madhu for Peddapalli ZP Chairperson post.
Both these leaders had to face defeat in the Assembly elections during December elections. KCR is likely to announce all the names in a day or two.According to TRS sources, former minister P Mahender Reddy is trying for the top post in the district for his wife Sunitha Reddy from Vikarabad district. Earlier, she had held the post of Rangareddy ZP Chairperson.
The name of another TRS leader's son is also doing rounds for the Medchal ZP. Sharat Chandra Reddy, son of former Medchal MLA M Sudheer Reddy, is likely to get the post, according to the sources. His chances got brightened because of the defeat of Minister Ch Malla Reddy's brother-in-law Srinivas Reddy. Teegala Krishna Reddy, who lost the Assembly election from Maheshwaram, is pitching for his daughter-in-law Anita Reddy.
TRS leader from Nizamabad Bajireddy Goverdhan wants his son B Jagan to be the ZP Chairperson. Though there are several other leaders from the district eyeing for the post, the party leaders said that Bajireddy may have the last laugh. Congress MLA from Bhoopalpally Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, who has decided to join the TRS, is trying for the ZP Chairperson post for his wife Gandra Jyothi. The sources said that this was the condition for tilting towards the TRS.
Former MLA E Uma Madhava Reddy is trying for the ZP post for Sandip Reddy for Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. She was not given any post after joining the TRS and the party leaders feel that this time she would be lucky. It is learnt that the TRS leaders are also meeting ministers to get the names of their children recommended to the party leadership.
