TRS to assign Ministers to tackle BJP in municipal elections
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) decided to focus more on the municipalities from where the BJP has representation in Lok Sabha.
Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) decided to focus more on the municipalities from where the BJP has representation in Lok Sabha.
The party is likely to assign the task of winning the municipalities under the Lok Sabha segment to the Ministers.
The TRS has already started preparations for the municipal elections likely to be held in the month of August and the party aims to bag all the municipalities by repeating the performance of MPTC, ZPTC and ZP Chairpersons elections.
The TRS had a clean sweep of Zilla Parishad seats winning 32 ZP chairpersons in the State. According to the party leaders, the cadre has already reached out to the voters by actively taking part in the membership drive focusing on the towns.
While the TRS leadership aims to win all the seats, the party feels that the BJP would throw a challenge in some pockets. According to sources, TRS working president K T Rama Rao, during a recent meeting of the in charges of the membership drive asked the leaders to be wary of the BJP in municipalities especially in those civic bodies where there are BJP members of Parliament.
He reportedly asked the party leaders to make sure BJP does not win stating that the saffron party leaders would jump up and down with their victory.
The TRS leaders feel that there was threat that the BJP may leave impact on the urban voters in Lok Sabha constituencies like Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad and also in the adjoining municipalities of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation like Tandur and Medchal.
Sources said the party is likely to deploy the Ministers in the municipalities coming under the Lok Sabha constituencies represented by the BJP leaders.
Though the MLAs have been given the responsibility for ensuring the victory of the party in their respective constituencies, in BJP represented places, the Ministers also are likely to get a key role in forming strategies, said a senior TRS leader.
The BJP has some presence in the urban pockets and after decimation of Telugu Desam and Congress party low on confidence, the party needs to counter with different strategies, opined the TRS leader.
