Hyderabad: Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has announced the schedule for the Common Post Graduate Entrance Test-2019 (CPGET-2019).

Addressing media here on Monday TSCHE Chairman Prof T Papi Reddy, Vice-Chairman Limbadri, Osmania University and Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellors Prof S Ramachandram and Prof Sayanna said that the test will be held for 80 postgraduate programmes.

For the first time, the test will be held as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for 60 subject papers.

Prof Papi Reddy said the test will make students eligible to take admission in six conventional universities and also in conventional courses being offered by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H).

The common entrance test would be useful and also facilitate students to opt for different programmes being offered at the university campuses, government, autonomous, aided, and private colleges in the State, he added.

Prof Ramachandram said the CPGET-2019 will cover 46 PG, 10 PG Diploma and six integrated postgraduate programmes.

Besides the entrance, the Osmania University will also conduct the admissions for those who qualify the test, he added.

The common entrance test will be held in a total of 25 centres across the State.

The test will be held in three sessions every day for about 10 days to facilitate students to appear in multiple tests for opportunity to take admission in different programmes of their choice, he said.

He said there will be a national quota of 5 per cent allocated to the students from other States intended to study the postgraduate programmes in Telangana.

Prof Sayanna said there are about 30,000 postgraduate seats available for admissions. Out of this, 6,000 seats are offered at the university campuses.

The remaining seats are offered at the autonomous, government, aided and private colleges in the State.

In the 2018-2019 academic year, the tests were conducted separately by Osmania University and Kakatiya University.

While the OU had received 79,000 applications the KU had received around 30,000 applications, he said.

The last date for applying for the CPGET-2019 without late fee is May 30, with a late fee of Rs 500, it is up to June 8, with a late fee of Rs 2,000, students can apply till June 11, he said.

The tentative date for the commencement of the tests is June 14, he said.
