Congress celebrates 136th Formation Day at Gandhi Bhavan

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of taking a U-turn on the new farm bills of BJP Government

Speaking after hoisting party flag on the occasion of party's 136th formation day at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly condemned KCR's decision to wind up procurement centres in villages. He said those procurement centres were not new and they were established by the previous Congress regime and not by the TRS Govt. He said that the State Government should continue to buy agricultural produce at Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The TPCC chief pointed out that it was CM KCR who imposed regulated farming and pushed farmers into huge crises. However, now KCR was blaming the farmers for the losses. He said that CM's opposition to new farm laws of BJP government was fake. By stating that farmers were free to sell their produce anywhere they like, KCR was directly supporting Prime Minister Narender Modi's new farm bills. He announced that the Congress party would continue its fight till farmers get justice.

Reddy recalled the services of the Congress party for the nation. He said that the Congress party not only brought freedom for the country from the British, but post-independence, it also played a major role in nation-building. He no other party could ever match the credentials of Congress party in people's welfare. He said that the Congress party, which ruled the country for a long time, always identified the needs of the people of the country and implemented the welfare schemes to suit their needs. He said that the Congress party would always remain close to the hearts of the people.

Congress party never abandoned its policy of secularism.

He said that it was the Congress Governments that turned India into a strong economic power. "India used to import foodgrains at the time of independence. But today India is exporting food grains to more than 200 countries. This credit goes to the Congress party." He said the Congress governments set up various PSUs to create public assets worth lakhs of crores of rupees. However, the present BJP Government was selling away those assets to a few corporate houses.

Earlier, Uttam paid floral tributes at the statue of late P Janardhan Reddy, on the occasion of his death anniversary, at Khairatabad Junction. He said that the people of Telangana would always remember the development of Hyderabad due to efforts made by late PJR. He also said that PJR would forever have a special place in the hearts of the poor, the weaker sections and the labour.
