Hyderabad: In protest against the state government's proposal to dismantle the Revenue department and merge the officials with other wings, Telangana Village Revenue Officers' (VRO) Association comprising nearly 30,000 workforce on Friday announced an action plan, including follow the work to rule strictly.
Association president G Upender Rao held a meeting with the representative of the district VRO associations and decided to fight against the government until it withdrew the proposal.
The association also took strong exception to the comments made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao that the rampant corruption in Revenue department brought bad repute to the state.
Rao said that the VROs decided to attend their duties only between 10 am to 5 pm under work rule from Saturday. The officials will also stop discharging their additional responsibilities entrusted in other villages.
In view of shortage of revenue officials, government appointed VROs as revenue head- incharges in many villages.
The association demanded that the government conduct an integrated land survey and distribute title deeds to all farmers and also protect the government lands from encroachment, establish a Revenue office with high-tech facilities in every village.
The association general secretary Sudhakar Rao said that the organisation will hold meetings with people's representatives and intellectuals and explain the importance of Revenue department in the functioning of the state government.
A public meeting involving all village level revenue officials and the distribution of pamphlets exposing the political conspiracy against revenue wing are part of the action plan.
