Adilabad: With only six days left for the conclusion of 30-day special action plan, it seems that 100 per cent target couldn't be achieved.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had launched the special action plan on September 6 and will conclude on October 5, aiming to transform villages across the State.

But the plan is not being implemented at field level. Problems in villages are not resolved as expected and sanitation work is still poor in many gram panchayats in district.

The interest shown by the officials in the beginning is not there now. The officials concerned are participating in meetings and review meetings,

but no one is struggling to complete 100 per cent work. The people of Belluri village, just three km away from Adilabad town, are dumping garbage and other waste on roadside and in open lands as they do not have a dumping yard and they are still going for open defecation.

Not only this village, but people in most of the villages are going for open defection due to lack of awareness.

Construction of 773 individual toilets in Sirikonda mandal, 212 in Gadiguda, 128 in Narnoor, 278 in Boath, 409 in Jainath, 340 in Bheempur, 177 in Utnoor and 136 in Bazarhathnoor is pending, out of the total 59, 374 individual toilets sanctioned for the district.

There are 467 gram panchayats (GP) including 248 agency areas in Adilabad district. According to official sources, in Adilabad district, 1,536 dilapidated buildings were identified and 762 of this should be dismantled.

845 bended and rusted poles were identified and among them 220 have been replaced with new ones. 395 graveyards and 399 dump yards were identified. Of the total 330 unused open wells that were indentified, 97 were filled with debris.

Speaking to The Hans India, District Panchayat Officer T Saibaba said that 26 mandal special officers and four flying squads have been appointed to monitor the works of the 30-day special action plan in the district.

The officials have been developing green cover and conducting clean drive, he added.
