Banjara Hills: Politician YS Sharmila, who is the daughter of late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh state YS Rajasekhara Reddy, said on Wednesday that her father had a special bond with historic Warangal district.
She recalled that her father had completed 80 per cent of the Sriram Sagar project which benefits the Warangal district.
She made these remarks while addressing a meeting of the loyalists of her father from the Warangal district in the city. Sharmila paid rich tributes at the portrait of professor Jaya Shankar before addressing a gathering.
Speaking on the occasion, she termed Warangal as the cultural capital of the state. She reminded the gathering that Kakatiya ruler Rani Rudrama was born in the Warangal district.
She said that the Warangal district had proved to the world its strong desire to have a separate Telangana state. She said that the soil of Warangal had given great poets like Kaloji Narayana rao to the world. Sharmila said that her father YSR wanted to transform the Warangal city into an IT city.
She said that Warangal city would have made a rapid progress on the path of development had her father was alive. She asked the loyalists of her father why they showed negligence on the establishment of railway coach factory at Kazipet by the central government.
She said that there was no Vice Chancellor for Kakatiya University and added that attacks took place on the students of the university when they questioned the state government about it.
