'Godman' web series in trouble?
Six weeks before Zee 5 plans to release its Tamil web series ‘Godman’ on July 12, it is up against protests for the contents of its teaser which was released on YouTube recently
Six weeks before Zee 5 plans to release its Tamil web series 'Godman' on July 12, it is up against protests for the contents of its teaser which was released on YouTube recently. The Tamil Nadu Brahmin Association is protesting against the manner in which the community has been portrayed and the manner in which the dialogues are openly anti-Brahminical. The picturisation has been described as voyeuristic and the treatment anti-Hindu, which is a politically incorrect thing to do for sure in these days. The series has actors like Jayaprakash known for character roles in Tamil and Telugu cinema with the erstwhile heroine Sonia Aggarwal playing a major role.
While the teaser was allegedly re-released after muting its dialogues, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has got involved and wants the banning of the web series altogether. One of the characters in the production, Daniel Balaji has obviously been trolled and criticized because of his non-Hindu background. The last is however yet to be heard on the future of the production.
