Advanced software to boost HSL orders
Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) is the first yard in the country having the first of its kind SAP S4/HANA ERP, an advanced software system for plasma cutting machine in production for cutting of steel to build ships.
Visakhapatnam: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) is the first yard in the country having the first of its kind SAP S4/HANA ERP, an advanced software system for plasma cutting machine in production for cutting of steel to build ships. For this, the HSL partnered with Tech Mahendra Ltd for implementation of SAP S4/HANA ERP software.
While inaugurating the most advanced software system here on Friday, Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman M T Krishna Babu stated that there was a vast potential for HSL to secure high-value construction and repair orders.
He emphasised that both Indian Navy and Coast Guard have embarked on massive the expansion plan to strengthen their fleets and HSL may grab this opportunity to undertake the construction of sophisticated defence vessels.
Krishna Babu appreciated the significant efforts of all the employees of HSL in achieving the turnaround of the shipyard. With the best productivity measures and improved morale, the shipyard has turnaround by posting both net profit and operating profit in the past three consecutive financial years for the first time in the last 40 years, Krishna Babu congratulated on the collective efforts of the yard.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman and Managing Director of HSL L V Sarat Babu said that with the new software system commenced in the yard, the HSL is one of the very few shipbuilding units having such a most advanced technology. In fact, not many shipyards in the world have this feature included in the ERP SAP S4/HANA software, Sarat Babu claimed.
