Visakhapatnam: As part of 73rd Independence Day celebrations, Executive Director of Visakh Refinery, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited V Ratan Raj hoisted the National Flag on the refinery premises and inspected a Guard of Honour from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) of Visakh Refinery Unit led by T V Rao, Assistant Commandant, CISF.

Addressing the gathering, Ratan Raj dwelt at length on the economic scenario and the likely issues that our country may face in near future. He mentioned that India is the fastest growing economy in the world and the Goods & Services Tax would boost the Indian economy.

He stressed upon the world energy demand and the role of alternate fuels in meeting it and stated that energy efficiency is going to play key role in developing countries like India.

Ratanraj insisted on the improvement of safety in refinery operations and also emphasised on safety/environmental measures and its systemic implementation. He complimented the employees for the all-time record throughput performance of last year i.e 9.773 MMTPA i.e 114 per cent capacity and the record profit of last year i.e. Rs 6,029 crores.

He urged all the employees to rise to the occasion in bringing fundamental changes towards reliability in operations and energy efficiency. He also stressed up on the augmentation of refinery facilities on timely basis, which is one of the prime requirements for enhancing the profitability.

He also mentioned that the mega project Visakh Refinery Modernization Project i.e. increasing the Refining capacity to 15 MMTPA is progressing in a planned manner and mentioned about the smooth commissioning of the new units in time as countries heaviest equipment have already arrived and installed for new units.

Ratanraj presented the appreciation awards to all cadres of CISF employees and staff in the presence of T.V. Rao. He also presented the service awards to 49 employees. Narisetty Rajarao, Chief General Manager -HR welcomed the gathering and the programme was anchored by Haripriya and M Umasri. B Tulsiram proposed vote of thanks.
