Anantapur: District Collector Gandham Chandrudu assured to transform the district into a migration-free district by stalling migrations.
Reviewing the implementation of MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) here on Saturday, the Collector said that he would take steps to create 100 work days for workers under the scheme in a year. All those registered for work under the scheme will get 100 days of work and there will be no need for them to leave the district in search of work at other places, he said.
He warned against any apathy on the part of officials in giving work to the workers who registered for work. There are 3 lakh workers who had registered for work. On March 10, around 1.54 lakh labourers have registered while on March 11 as many as 1.51 lakh workers have registered and 1.48 lakh workers have registered on March 12.
He said that the technical assistants and field assistants and Assistant project directors should make every effort to give 100 days of work to every registered worker. From April 1st on wards effort should be made to give work for 100 days in a year. He said that in certain mandals, officials were negligent in providing work to the labourers.
