The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was convened on Friday and discussed over 27 issues related to the state including Cyclone Nivar effect for the last three days. Minister Kanna Babu disclosed the decisions taken at this cabinet meeting to the media. Minister Kanna Babu said there was information that 30,000 hectares of agricultural crops in the state were damaged due to the Nivar cyclone. Hanna Babu revealed that Chief Minister YS Jagan had ordered cyclone relief measures to be taken on a war footing.

He said that the cabinet has decided to provide financial aid of Rs. 500 for homeless people who are shifted to rehabilitation camps due to the impact of the storm. He also said that compensation should be given to the farmers who lost their crops by the end of December. Kanna Babu clarified that all the reports that the height of the Polavaram project has been reduced are untrue and that not even a single centimeter of height has been reduced. Meanwhile, Kanna Babu said three people were reported dead in Nellore district due to rains and floods caused by cyclone Nivar.

It is also noted that the cabinet has given nod for the payment of DA arrears to government employees and pensioners. It was earlier announced that the arrears due from July 1, 2018 which are not been paid will be paid.

It is learnt that these issues were also discussed at the AP cabinet meeting held in Amravati. The cabinet has discussed over latest political developments, corona cases, actions to be taken, and pre-arrangement for the vaccine. It is knew that the issue of local body elections was also discussed. .
