The government of Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made it clear that only one farmer family will be eligible to apply for a free bore well scheme under the YSR Jalakala scheme.
The government of Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made it clear that only one farmer family will be eligible to apply for a free bore well scheme under the YSR Jalakala scheme. Some applications were received for three or four adjacent borewell in the same area in the name of different members of the same family. However, the Walta Act stipulates that there must be a distance of at least 200 meters between one bore and the another. To solve this problem, the officials of the Rural Development Department sent a report to the government suggesting amendments to the eligibility rules of the scheme.
Accordingly, the government has made changes and additions in the eligibility rules. Panchayati Raj Rural Development Chief Secretary Gopala Krishna Dwivedi on Monday issued orders to this effect. According to the amended provision, if a member of a family is granted a free bore in the scheme, another member of the family will be disqualified from applying for the scheme.
Here are the revised guidelines of the scheme
● Government employees, retired employees are ineligible for this scheme.
● Farmers applying for free borewell under this scheme should have at least two and a half acres of land. Otherwise you can apply as a group with the surrounding farmers.
● In order to drill another bore there, another hydrogeological survey has to be done.
● The second borewell will have to be excavated under the supervision of MPDO, DWAMA APD.
● A new provision has also been brought in which the quality control department must inspect at least 10 per cent of the free borewell laid under the YSR Jalakala scheme.
